This image was captured on a cold snowy afternoon, during my first year of marriage with my wife, Ashley Dysart. It was our first snow as a married couple. I was getting a cold, and feeling sick, and she wanted to take photos outside. I had my photography equipment on me, so we went outside and I proceeded to set up my lighting, which consisted of a bare speedlite on a stand pointing at us, triggered by a speedlite on camera, which was mounted on a tripod. I had a wireless radio trigger for my Canon 5D MK II, which I did several takes and this was the one that worked.
I might have not have felt very good while creating this image, but it was worth it. It is one of my favorite images of us together, and reflects the style I want to bring to portraiture.
